Hey there 👋🏽 I’m Pooja - welcome to my channel!
My main mission is to EMPOWER people to gain access to free educational tools and insights when it comes to the tech industry. There’s a lot of information out there - from starting out in the industry as a newbie, gaining valuable interviewing skills to land the job, actually working as an IT professional, to just keeping up to date/learning more about the latest trends - I’d like to better organize these resources! 💻
I’ve been a software engineer for over 5 years! I currently work at Microsoft and have worked at Target in the past. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science .. although I like to add that I’ve learned much of what I know today from the experiences on the job, as well as through the internet 😉
Enjoy, and Cheers 🥂

I wouldn't even search for jobs if I lived in the USA. Y'all can start your own tech company so easily!
I’m in such despair because of this job market. I just want to provide for my family and the future but I can’t because of these ghost jobs.
She is shelling out product already red flag
@@Turnpost2552 people assuming we can afford to give everything away for free is the real red flag 🚩 it’s totally up to you if you want to purchase something. I, along with many others, have poured our heart and soul into creating something to help others.
Linked jobs which are not apply easily will always show 0 applicants but this is not real
Godddayummmm
all software engineer jobs will be replaced by AI soon anyway.
Elections are around the corner... pick your candidates carefully
Almost all American Tech jobs have been outsourced to india, that is why the American citizen cannot find a tech job, even entry level
my advice to young people is to try and get in to a County/State/Federal job, that is a job with a pension system and strong union. I know its not sexy, and they dont throw tons of money at you or perks but I think its going to get very bad for tech people in relation to Ai. I totally think Ai is going to gobble up all the tech jobs, and Ai doesnt need lunch or days off and it doesnt sleep. milestones come very fast working for say the County. 5,10,15 and one day you wake up and you have 25-35 years and you retire with a forever pension.
Okay well then imagine us folks who don’t even make half that
Only fans is still there on the table
I worked for big pharma 5 years and 30% of our staff got laid off, I’m forced to get a customer service role to keep it going, because all I get are rejections. In 2020-2022 I got a job offered every single week :( I surely sent 100 applications this month and tailored my cover letters, it feels like the worst job I had with no reward 😢
Now I dont feel so bad 😂😂😂
Very funny.
Awesome video
I really love your videos!

Solution, there’s other states besides Cali to own a home 🤯
I wish I was living paycheck to paycheck!
I dont study leetcode. i just tell them I dont study this, but I have the experience you're looking for. I refuse to do these. However if its a practical problem, sure I guess thats better. If its something I know, ok. But not "find the happy number", pulled straight from LeetCode. Yesterday I was asked FizzBuzz. Lol. I worked at the company already for 2 years, the interviewer said "its great you have worked here already but we're not looking at that too much." But wanted to ask FizzBuzz. Absolute nonsense.
You forgot to turn on Spotify.
Lol true!
This is me for sure LOL!!! Mostly on the phone though lol...
Haha yes 😂 the phone is always the biggest distraction
@@PoojaDutt frfr lol 😏
I swear to God your twin sister lives near me I always stare at her when I see her walking around. She must think I'm a nut job😂
😂😂
This is far from paycheck to paycheck. God, these university graduate, six digit earners can never be content with their lives, can they. Vr set, beautiful apartment, a big car, high quality groceries. And still claims "no money" 3:57. These people have no idea what actual poverty is like. I want more vacation days, I want less work hours, I want more bonuses even though I'm already 6 digits, I wanna eat at a restaurant, I want an 800,000 dollar house. Whine whine whine. While some people, those who actually live paycheck to paycheck just want to have enough money for rent.
Why do you people want to work for other people. Why don't you guys start your own businesses. You are literally living in the best country in the world to start your own business. Why do you guys want to work for other people. You people who are software engineer world have a very specific skill set. Use it. Get together with other software engineers, sit down and come up with a plan to open your own businesses. Or go into another field/ career
❤
Really, it's a skill issue, I'm still getting offers and constant invites to interviews that I have to decline lmao
Layoffs happen, this goes to the concept of "Average" which has a huge effect where everyone at work is your competition. "Average" is a mathematical point in the middle where half the people are "Above Average" and the other half are "Below Average", no one is "Average". I found this concept true when I worked, the Above Average half continuously developed more skills and did well while the Below Average half fell behind, subject to layoffs, missed promotions and lower salaries. I was never the best but always strived to be in the Above Average half. When you have a job do everything you can to keep it.
Hey Pooja , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
If there are so few jobs and looks like 100,000 applicants for each open position, why are these software jobs still paying so much??!!! Sure loos like these are completely fake postings!!
Cause the work is like a wizards crafts only the one who codes truly understand but the experienced one can only solve it
Maybe someone can do an AI app to apply automatically to these positions and have AI create a new unique resume for each job position!!! It's just a numbers thing!!!
@3:49 She applied to over 2000 positions and had responses on 7??!!! You've got to give her credit in digging out 2000 positions!!! Maybe there are 2000 positions for software engineers but the response rate is pathetic!!!
Linkedin is a complete fraud. The only ones coming out ahead is the website owner charging you for every function you want to use on the website to gain contacts!!!
You wont get a good software engineering job, forget it
Saloni's resume is a 7 not a 10. 1. List your titles first, not your "location," especially if it's not impressive. It's like trying to say you went to some random college or something. Even for Stanford grads we advise to put what you did, not where you went first. We care about WHAT YOU DID, not where you went. Her bullet points are also not clear. Can she expand on precisely how she integrated GPT technology? Valuation models? Stop using buzzwords. What is strategic guidance to startups? More buzzwords. Tell me exactly how you supported these startups, and how it led to 40% increase in sales. There are many other things. People try to "mimic" what they think "top performers" have, and end up writing something similar to Saloni. You are trying to "not to fail," trying to "blend in," but how will "blending in" make someone pick you over 200 other resumes who are trying to do the same thing? I meet people with "cool" linkedin profiles that can't even land a first job. And they have "founder" and "partner" and all kinds of BS in their Linkedin. This is not a criticism of Saloni, but to illuminate the stuff I see everywhere. Everyone's trying to do the same thing. When you do that, then yeah, it becomes more pure luck and things you can control. If your quality is 7, the company only will go with 7 if they cannot find 8-10. And if market is tough, there will be more 8-10s. The truth is, 8-10s are still the minority, and you must be an 8-10 to stand out.
Jobless since 8months Was too sick and now i feel i am forgetting every small things
You might have to Pick up a Wrench, a multimeter, power drill, a tape measure, reciprocating saw, or circular saw etc and learn a Trade. Trades aint going nowhere..Actually There is a Shortage of Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC techs and Carpenters. Don't Be Afraid to get Your Hands Dirty
The market for Software Engineers is just correcting. The job market we have now is a result of a pending energy crisis caused by housing all of this tech data. We need less software engineers and more people managing our real life resources.
It's the title for me 😅❤
Stupid background music. Fail.
Lots of jobs are being outsourced to cheaper countries.
is python good as a software devloper?
In Belgium software developer is a profession that is called a strainpointprofession. It means they are hopelessly searching for people. What a contrast with America.
No, they're not. They have unrealistic expectations and reject most applications!
They always looking for people to dig holes
There's lots of people who have college degrees in marketable fields with lots of jobs in the field such as engineering, computer science, accounting, finance, business administration, etc that struggle with finding jobs in their field, and it's not due to discrimination, making a bad impression during the interview, not trying hard enough, being lazy, etc; it's due to jobs being extremely competitive. Jobs nowadays are extremely competitive to get. Lots of engineering, computer science, accounting, finance, business, sports management, human resources, trades, etc jobs out there are jobs where they have around 40-200 applicants and only 1 person is going to be chosen for the job, and even if you meet the education criteria for the job, have a lot of relevant experience, make a great impression during the interview, have a great resume, meet the general criteria for the job, etc, there's still a strong chance that you won't be the selected candidate for the job. The selected candidate for the job is usually a highly qualified person that the hiring manager knows or a highly qualified candidate that had a referral, recommendation letter, etc submitted to the hiring manager from a relevant trusted professional reference. Meeting the general criteria for the job and the interview going well is enough to land fast food jobs, grocery store jobs, warehouse jobs, waiter jobs, truck driving jobs, etc, but it's typically not enough to land engineering jobs, computer science jobs, financial jobs, banking jobs, business jobs, human resources jobs, trades jobs, etc. Interning, volunteering, networking, making professional connections, etc definitely helps in landing jobs in your field after college. Almost every one I know that got their first engineering job, computer science job, accounting job, finance job, business job, trades job, etc got their job due to someone they know hiring them or due to a trusted relevant professional reference submitting a referral, recommendation letter, etc to the hiring manager.
graduated with cs degree and no internship. do i start flipping burgers?
Yes believe me better than debugging code
If you're able bodied and willing, look into applying for trade apprenticeships. One of the best decisions I ever made. I will never have to 'find a job' ever again as an electrician. No debt, great pay, always in demand, great job security, incredible benefits package.
Don't give up. In 2022 I had 40+ interviews for 200+ applications. and finally 4+ offers. but ya it took about 2-2.5 months. I know the 2024 market is alot tougher and more saturated. I would specify my skillset to the job I want and focus on specific, tailored jobs rather than generic applications. Also specialize within the industry . I worked in three vastly different industries in 3 years but only because "general" skills were much more in demand in 2021-2023. But moving forward I see due to saturation, extreme niche, specialization to a specific industry vertical in ANY part of the tech industry or general industry is extremely necessary as employers can internally hire and promote candidates and have less incentive to hire someone qualified from the outside but may not know the internal industry lingo/jargon that while not directly relevant to the job skills needed is requisite in becoming a SME (subject matter expert) on the software product from tech or business/product side.
same, just got another denial. In the middle of that last sentence someone called and I have an interview Friday, no fn way fr though. I have a job rn but it is super annoying me. overtime 6-7 days a week cant wash clothes never see the light of day. I am blessed but sometime the burden out weighs the blessing. Maybe I will go part time at both to avoid accountability like all these other scums. Out of maybe 40 applications, I had 2 calls, turns out one was a pyrimad scheme and the other has 2.5 stars on google reviews, this is crazy I cant believe this country rn, Where are all the jobs the president told us he created, they are not here, and if they are they are slave jobs no benefits no work life balance etc, this administration need to go. I wish the best to whoever reads this your about to get that call I believe in you!!!
